Deadline Passed, Application Closed

The deadline to apply for the workshop is April 26, 2013. A complete and confirmed application does not yet indicate acceptance to attend the meeting. Information regarding acceptance will be sent to all applicants within two weeks after the application deadline.

There are two separate tracks for application, depending on the applicant:

Applicants from developing countries

should apply directly through ICTP, via the ICTP web site: link. Please use the ICTP form if you are a national of, and working in, a developing country. There is limited support funding available for such candidates through ICTP directly.

All other applicants

should please follow the procedure outlined below.

Please note that, for a complete application, we ask you to arrange for two further items:

1. Please submit an abstract (for a poster presentation). The idea of our poster session is simply to create a basis for scientific discussions that are relevant to the participants' plans. We realize that many of our participants may not have final results from a scientific project yet, and anything preliminary (plans, ideas, former projects) is absolutely welcome.
2. Please also make sure that a confidential letter of support by your current supervisor reaches our conference secretary (hands-on-2013@fhi-berlin.mpg.de). This letter should be sent DIRECTLY by the supervisor, not by anyone else. If this is not possible for any reason, please contact us directly. The letter should not exceed a maximum of 10-15 lines (ascii, msword, pdf).

We will use both items to select participants as fairly as possible in case we receive more applications than we can accommodate at the meeting.

Please arrange for these items at your earliest convenience. We must have received all necessary material no later than April 26, 2013.

Conference Fee:

The conference fee is 750 EUR. Please note that this fee is not a registration fee, but actually covers the participants' local and conference costs, in particular: Accommodation in double rooms, conference material, and coffee breaks. Accommodation in single rooms is available for a surcharge of 320 EUR. Payment information for the conference fee will be given together with the acceptance messages.
