With more than 7,000 expected participants the DPG Spring Meeting is the largest European physics conference (the second largest physics conference worldwide) covering all aspects of condensed matter and chemical physics, materials science, surface science, as well as polymer and biophysics, and more. For a few years now the conference language has been English.

You are invited to attend the DPG Spring Meeting from March 15-20, 2015 in Berlin and in particular the above noted symposium which is organized by
Steven G. Louie (UC Berkeley), Erich Runge (TU Ilmenau), and Matthias Scheffler (FHI Berlin).

This is an official symposium at the DPG spring meeting, which is hosted by the surface science division, but topics of talks and posters are not restricted to surface science. It will start Monday probably at 10:30 a.m. and end Friday at noon. There will be invited talks, contributed talks, and a poster session.


Everybody in the wider field of computational materials and electronic structure theory is invited to attend the symposium and to submit an abstract, either for a contributed talk or a poster. Please visit the DPG conference web site and submit your abstract early. There you should choose:
O: Surface science division, and later, as topic, please choose Electronic Structure Theory - Many-body effects on the nano-scale

We are grateful that the symposium is again hosted by the surface-science division. Please note that this hosting does NOT imply that talks need to be restricted to this scientific area.
